PPEF Website Traffic Report
Jan2005-March2005

Web traffic reports illustrate how active and popular your website is on a daily and monthly basis. Web reports track the path a web visitor takes through your site and collects statistics on the page views, downloads, exit and entry pages, and even links visited from other websites.

Website “Hits” are a popular yet misleading statistic. To get an accurate count of how many people visited a website, it is best to pay close attention to VISITS. One VISIT equals one person perusing the website for information, downloads files. The page from which the visitor exits is also captured. Visits are also sometimes referred to as a single SESSION.

The PPEF web reports below indicate that activity on the PPEF website has steadily increased from DEC2005 through March 2005. Again, we look at VISITS to get a feel for the website’s popularity and activity.

A COMPLETE HISTORY OF PPEF WEB ACTIVITY. THE WEBSITE WAS developed IN OCT/NOV2004. SINCE ITS LAUNCH IN DEC 2004, THE SITE HAS SEEN AN INCREASE IN TRAFFIC.

The PPEF website must be announced and constantly promoted in order to drive traffic to the site and further the organization’s mission of raising funds and providing grants to Portsmouth public school teachers. In March 2005, the PPEF website was promoted through a letter/newsletter campaign. The PPEF website and organization was also highlighted in links from other local education websites. The web statistics below show a dramatic increase in visits from the previous month most likely as a result of these efforts.

MARCH 2005: A DRAMATIC INCREASE IN PPEF WEBSITE VISITS AND FILE DOWNLOADS

Conversely, when a website is not promoted there is very little traffic and activity. Below are statistics from FEB2005 and JAN2005.
